People are talking about the multi-faceted Shahrukh Khan and his endless interests. The award he has won at Davos is as much a recognition of his selfless service for humanity, especially children afflicted with cancer and women traumatized by acid attacks and major burn injuries, as it is of his inherent nature of giving back the community something in return for all the love it has given him.
Through Meer Foundation, Khan has been striving to bring cheer in the lives of cancer-stricken children by paying their medical expenses and more importantly, making it less painful for them to live with the disease. If the end comes, the foundation ensures it is dignified. For women victims of acid attacks, the foundation has a multi-pronged strategy that first takes care of treatment and recovery and then helps them in overcoming the trauma and works for their rehabilitation. It is extremely important work that the foundation is doing.
At Davos, Khan was given the Crystal Award for “his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India.” Those who know Khan will testify that life for him is not just acting, producing content, hosting shows, owning sports teams and other businesses. It is also being of value to society. In that sense, Shahrukh Khan, people say, is the true ambassador of India and its people.
