India have won the Thomas Cup for the first time. In the end, it was an anti-climax. The ease with which the Indians defeated 14-time champions Indonesia 3-0 was amazing.

Lakshya Sen, who has been having an indifferent tournament, rose to the occasion and came good in the first match to give India the lead. Then the doubles pair of S Rankireddy and C Shetty made it 2-0. Finally, K Srikanth gave no chance to Jonatan Christie to wrap up the match and win the title for India.

Although the first two matches went to the wire, the Indians did well to make come backs to win both the matches.  They displayed the same determination, skill and nerves of steel that have served them well in the Cup.

This is an awesome victory and will be savoured for generations.
