A murder happens in a magnificent haveli-hotel in Jaipur. The senior police officer Rajesh Ahlawat (Rahul Dev) sends the jurisdiction cops packing and takes over the case as he is instructed to do so over the phone by someone influential. He finds out that the leading Bollywood actress Vaani (Dipannita Sharma-Atwal) who had been shooting at the property for the last several days had been murdered and her fiancé, film writer Kartik (Anup Soni), is missing. The police first see him as the prime suspect and all check points are alerted to look for him. But on scanning the CCTV footage, Ahlawat comes to know that the producer Rehan Mustafa (Saurabh Sachdeva) had a fight with Vaani and Kartik hit him. So, Rehan also becomes a suspect.

But unknown to Ahlawat, the fleeing Kartik is guided to approach Raja Sujan Singh (Sameer Malhotra). But when he reaches the Raja's haveli, he finds that the Raja is not home but the Rani Basuki (Paoli Dam) would meet him. But Kartik is shocked to see that Basuki is none other than his college flame. They get to talk and in the course the conversation, Kartik comes to know how much Basuki loved him then. Meanwhile, Ahlawat gets more leads on scanning CCTV footage and questioning witnesses. He makes up his mind. When he is informed that Kartik's last location was near Sujan Singh's haveli, he goes there to arrest him. We would not give out the spoilers as you need to watch the taut (just 84 minutes) thriller to find out who killed whom and why.

Although it is a basic love, revenge and murder mystery, Raat Baaki Hai (streaming on Zee5) is well crafted by director Avinash Das. Since its running time is not long, the viewer's interest does not flag. The situations also seem plausible. Paoli Dam puts in a fine and restrained performance of a spurned lover. She looks majestic as the Rani Sahiba. Anup Soni seems miscast and Rahul Dev is competent. Jaipur's havelis are captured brilliantly. You can watch this thriller for Paoli Dam's excellent performance.
