Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty's massive achievement in winning the men's doubles title at the Badminton Asian Championships can be gauged from the fact that Dinesh Khanna last won gold for India at these championships in 1965, all of 58 years ago. The Satwik-Chirag pair ended the long gold drought and showed their class in a nail-biting final in which they bounced back from a first set reverse to beat the Malaysian combination of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 16-21, 21-17, 21-19. This was another feather in the cap of the duo who have proved themselves to be, by far, the best doubles pair India has produced in the sport.
