People are talking about how Covid caught up with POTUS and FLOTUS. They say that among all the world's leaders, it was Donald Trump who made fun of the virus, almost leading his country to believe that it was some kind of scaremongering by the Chinese. When it became known that the health risk was immense and strict counter measures needed to be taken, people say Trump took out his ire on the WHO, alleging that it did little to hold China to accountability. People say that it was out of frustration that Donald Trump suspended the funding the US provides to WHO.

People point out that despite having a population of just 330 million people (compared to 1.35 billion in India) and much better health infrastructure than India, the US has far more Covid cases and casualties than our country. People say this is only because of Trump's reluctance to enforce health protocols in the initial days. They say that with no lockdown in place, the virus was allowed to spread unhindered. He himself never seriously adhered to the protocols, often appearing in public without a mask or maintaining social distancing. People say he even made fun of opponents who accused him of holding rallies where his supporters came without masks and rubbed shoulders with each other by saying that since they did not have supporters, they were jealous of him.

They say that Trump was instrumental in making the American people relax as if nothing would happen to them. The costs have been very high. People say that his handling of the pandemic situation will make Trump lose many votes in the elections to be held very soon. People say that Trump ignored the fact that with many Americans suffering from various diseases, co-morbidity would result in deaths. People are of the opinion that the US response to the pandemic is a classic case of how not to take any health threat lightly and they say that Trump will now realize this from his hospital bed.
