After the brilliant comeback by Team India in the Melbourne Test and the solid performance by Ajinkye Rahane, both as captain and batsman, people have started talking whether Rahane is a better captain than Kohli in Tests and whether the selectors should make him the captain of the Test team in place of Kohli.

People say that Rahane has come in for universal praise from many former players, Indians and from other countries, for rallying the team after the nightmare in Adelaide. They have praised the manner in which he marshaled his resources and played a captains knock to lead India to victory. People say that sometimes youngsters in the team need a cool and calm head to guide them and Rahane fits the bill perfectly. They also say that the selectors should ask Kohli to concentrate on his batting and do what he is best at - scoring runs.

Others, however, differ. They say that one swallow does not a summer make and although Rahane was brilliant in Melbourne, Kohli has showed his prowess over a good length of time and the youngsters worship him. People say that sport has become increasingly combative and good men do win but opponents, especially the Aussies, need to be answered in their own language. They say that Kohli has made this team aggressive and hungry for wins and the Adelaide Test was a collective failure. They also say that Kohli's batting has improved after he was made the captain.

People are of the opinion that splitting the captaincy - with Rohit Sharma leading in T20s, Kohli in 50-over games and Rahane in Tests - will be more effective. But others say that Kohli's aggressiveness and success in all formats of the game has made opponents fear Team India and the equation must not be changed for as long as Kohli is delivering.
