Wagle Ki Duniya, that endearing television show of the late 80s on Doordarshan, is back with a generational shift and the new tagline of Nayi Peedhi, Naye Kissey. The format is same but the setting has changed to reflect the changed times. Anjan Srivatsava is still Sreeniwas Wagle and Bharati Achrekar is Radhika Wagle but they have yielded the spotlight to their son Rajesh (Sumeet Raghavan) and his wife Vandana (Pariva Pranati) and their two children. But the older Wagles continue to take the story ahead with their endearing pranks.

The original series was developed by cartoonist R K Laxman and was based on his "common man" series of cartoons. It showed the events a common man had to face daily in his professional and private life. This season also weaves the stories around the happenings in the Life of Rajesh and Vandana Wagle. Rajesh has brought his parents to his society in Borivili from the flat they used to live in Dadar. The first few episodes show how the older Wagles take time in adjusting to the new environment. The secretary of the society, with his "rules are rules, follow na kare te fool" is a busybody who pokes his nose in the affairs of all residents.

Age has not taken anything away from Anjan Srivastava or Bharati Achrekar. They are excellent as the couple who have been made to leave their home of many years and move to a new society to be close to their son and his family. Sumeet Raghavan and Pariva Pranati are also spot-on in essaying the roles of the new age Wagles. Each of the episodes is designed in such a way that it tells an entertaining tale with a message without being preachy. That you will feel different emotions at different times is what makes the show great. Watch it on Sony Sab from Mondays to Fridays at 9pm.
