India created history at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Birmingham when they won the lawn bowls women’s fours gold medal. The Indian team quartet of Lovely Choubey, Rupa rani Tirkey, Pinki and Nayanmoni Saikia showed nerves of steel to come back and win the gold after losing a handsome lead in the opening rounds. The South Africans never gave up despite trailing in the opening ends and drew level after the 10th end and then led 10-8 in the next round.

But the Indians kept their cool in the final rounds to win the tie 17-10.

The performance of this team has gladdened the hearts of all sport lovers in the country, especially those who follow lawn bowls.
