The Indian women start their T20 World Cup campaign today with a match against Pakistan. India have a 10-3 lead over Pakistan in T20 matches and on current form, start as strong favourites to win the game. But India will suffer from vice-captain Smriti Mandhana's absence as she has been ruled out of the game with a finger injury. Fortunately, skipper Harmanpreet Singh is fit and will play the match.

India is clubbed with Pakistan, England, Ireland and West Indies in group B. On current form, it should not be difficult for India to reach the semi-finals. But T20 is a format which throws up surprises, as was seen in the first match of the tournament as Sri Lanka beat hosts South Africa by three runs.

Hence, India will have to play to its potential and field well if it hopes to win the cup which it has never won. It has the team this time with Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, under-19 World Cup winning captain Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Anjali Sarvani and Meghna Singh.

In the match versus Pakistan, India are the overwhelming favourites with 97% chances of winning. But India will have to be at their best against England and West Indies who also have good teams. The Indian women can draw inspiration from the U-19 squad which won the T20 World Cup for juniors in South Africa just a month ago. Bringing the Cup home will be the best glory for women's cricket in India as the game is poised to take a giant leap with the WPL in March.
