With a loss against South Africa and two narrow wins against Pakistan and Bangladesh, India entered the semifinals of the T20 World Cup by topping the group. They play England today and the winner will play Pakistan who beat New Zealand comfortably to enter the finals after being on the verge of an early exit in the group stage.

While people in the sub-continent will root for an India-Pakistan final, England, of course, have other ideas as captain Jos Buttler said that the team will be "trying all we can do to make sure that does not happen". England has the firepower in all departments to give India a tough match but like India they too have been underperforming in the tournament.

While the Adelaide pitch is expected to be a slow turner, both teams have their problems. For India, Virat Kohli has hit form at the right time and has been the player of the tournament so far, Suryakumar Yadav has taken T20 batting to another level, K L Rahul has also started doing justice to his talent and the pace bowlers have also been performing well, but the spinners have been a huge disappointment in the few chances they have got. Also, the team has not been able to build partnerships and rotate strike to get it out of tough situations.

England, on the other hand, have injury problems and most of their explosive batters are not in good nick. However both their spinners - Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone - have been performing well and will be dangerous on the Adelaide pitch. If Dawid Malan and Mark Wood do not take the field today due to injuries, England will be handicapped.

Still, it is going to be a cracker of a match between two equally well-balanced teams. It is very difficult to predict the outcome and the team that plays better on the day and does not crack under pressure is likely to make the final.
